TROBALLES ESTRUCH – ARTS CREATION FACTORY – SABADELL (Occidental VALLÈS)
Individual Installation: “Encounters”
Exhibition – Sculptural Installation. L’Estruch. Factory of Creation of Living Arts. Sabadell City Council. (April 2019)
“Troballes” is born from three sculptures: Barca, Medusa and Anchor, created by me. This journey begins with an intimate memory of my childhood: a boat departing from the beach of Altafulla, paying homage to my father. The Barca takes us back to the beginning of the adventure, in search of new horizons, whether internal or external.
The sculptures have been built from found and recycled materials, native, collected in the Ebro Delta area, in the Alt Camp regions and other areas. It is a clear tribute to the land that I always have in mind. The exhibition is an introspective show dedicated entirely to the sea, which is presented as the center, beginning and end of a metaphorical and vital journey, with a transversal and personal discourse.
My curiosity leads me to discover the legacy of the capital of Hispania Citerior and, through archaeology, I become aware of this ancestral past. The second work is inspired by the Medusa of the myth of Perseus. The Gorgon was part of the central emblem of one of the best mosaics from a domus in the city of Tarraco, transferred to the Archaeological Museum in 1857. The Medusa and the mirror represent the critical point of the journey, the confrontation with the difficulties and with the petrifying gaze of the monster, which is, ultimately, the encounter with oneself. This reinterpretation of the myth has given rise to a kinder gaze, not destructive, but analytical, turning the eye and the mirror into spaces of realistic self-criticism.
The last work, the Anchor, symbolizes the resting point at the end of the journey, a place of inner peace and calm. It is not, however, the final destination, the Port, but a stop on a journey that never ends.
The use of different visual and sound effects, created specifically for the exhibition, transforms the initial space. It is a different way of seeing the sculpture and allows for a dialogue with the viewer, who we hope will not remain indifferent.
